We’ll be meeting at Worlds Away this Sunday, February, 2011 starting 12:30pm. I’ll be trying out some new hardware as well having the old as backup JUST in case things don’t go as smoothly.
We’ll be having the Gamecube with games like Super Smash Bros. Melee along with a console from days past from a friend’s Retro collection. Hope to see you there.
Like I need another project or another thing to update. Yet, I got myself a Tumblr account. Something new to try out and maybe forget. Unlike a regular blog, it is a community. So stop by and read the ramblings of a reluctant webdesigner.
It is the final meeting for the year so we will be playing random stuff and not our regular fair. We’ll be starting 12:30 to 3:30pm at Worlds Away, 666 Dundas street, London. We’ll have one or two game consoles since we have more than one TV. If you can bring some goodies that be fine.
There is also The East Village Arts Crawl happing so there is plenty to do after the meeting.
I’ve gone out and bought a Nintendo Gamecube along with 3 controllers and several games to add to the systems we can call upon for gaming part of our meeting. This should nicely augment the Atari 2600 and Sega Saturn we also have at our meetings from time to time. Some of the games acquired already are, GALDIUS, Sonic Heroes, One Piece Grand Battles, Metriod Prime 2 Echos and above pictured, Naruto Clash of the Ninja 2. I also found memory card for $5.
While I’m looking at getting a fourth controller and some more multiplayer games, I’ll see how the group likes these first. Also we’ll have our usual set of shows and one NEW show to review. So come and join us, October 24th starting 12:30pm at Worlds Away, 666 Dundas street.
For the past two meetings one of our members has been bringing in his vintage game consoles. Retro gaming as it’s called. Amoung them, a functional Atari 2600 with many homebrew games and Sega Dreamcast.
I went to flea market to see what a used controller for Dreamcast would cost. I was surprised. When did this get popular …. again.
I dug through my closet of forgotten childhood and found a Sega Genesis I had rescued when another tenant tossed it. Plenty of old Atari controllers from my 8-bit computer days. Even an Atari trackball.
It seems as we move forward, we look back on what made our lives happy and want to re-live it. Maybe why retro gaming is back but then it was the cutting edge.
We’re still continuing with retro gaming during break time and after our shows for our Sunday meetings. It’s a question of what we can resurrect to have available.
We had an old member, Glen, show up for our meeting today. It was good to have Glen once again, He was the voice way back when all we had nothing more but raw tapes and the scripts. We’ll be also at Central Library Monday night. Until then, we’ll not be posting our review.
I didn’t get a chance to go through the video from Toronto Anime Con. I did work on some graphics for the new design for cosplay section.
I did manage to get done the pages for upcoming Spring season of new shows as well as the related manga. I will be posting links to both on our Twitter and Facebook pages.
So I plan to keep blog fresh with a new look …. more in keeping with the rest of the website. Stay tuned for more changes.
We’ll be having our meeting this Sunday, February 28th 2010 – starting 12:30pm. Location is Worlds Away, 666 Dundas St., London, Ontario. Hope to see you there.
We will be meeting at Worlds Away on Sunday January 24th, 2010. Personal circumstances concerning future meetings have been rectified and we will continue meeting in February and hopefully beyond.
Hope to see you there.
Our first meeting of the new year is coming up fast. We’ll be back for another year at Worlds Away, 666 Dundas Street, London, Ontario starting 12:30pm. We’ve started a new series so be sure to mark this date on you calendar.
Our annual end of the year Christmas party is December 14th starting 12 noon at Worlds Away, 666 Dundas Street. Sadly the same day as the December Toronto Anime Con. Unfortunely I can’t make it if I wanted to and switching dates wasn’t possible.
In keeping with our tradition, we’ll be watching nothing but new shows. It is also the time we hand out our new membership cards for good to the end of next year. Also we’re asking people to bring treats cookies whatever. (I’m bringing hot chocolate and marshmallows.) I will also bring a ghettoblaster to play music.
In not keeping with the past, we’ll be having a swap meet. For a chance to unload some of those things (prefereably anime, manga and other otaku things) you wonder what the … you bought them for. All trades, swaps are conditional between those swapping. I have a couple of manga and wall scroll left over from past Christmas meetings to trade, swap, whatever.
We will also have an UN-tree, an unconventional Christmas tree. I had rescued this twig thing from being tossed into the fire. People are welcomed to bring their own recycled decorations for our UN-tree.
Hope to see you there.
