Artist Alley Directories

Since this year I couldn’t run the 4 Koma Project, I still felt like I had to do something for the artists this year.

So taking an idea from Ketto program book and friend sent me, I collect a bunch of the business cards from the Artists at Anime North and Fan Expo and created my own directory of artists.

I also fixed the error in the nav menu for the con reports so the link to the artist directories work.

I hope to be back on my feet and running the 4 Koma Porject next year.

Fan Expo Friday report up

Sometimes doing cons is alot of work for me. Even when it’s only two days.

Friday Con Report

There is more pictures of the event including the ‘slightly shorter’ route to the South Building.  Which will be a boon for dealers and those with children to know.

I also talk about a giveaway that most people missed. Satruday’s and Masquerade reports to come.

Well I finally got throught the smallest of the three galleries and got the webpages up for Fan Expo. I have got the pictures for the Masquerade report just haven’t conposed it yet. Extra pictures with thumbnails are there. Just not connected.

Masquerade Gallery

I will be trying to get through Friday’s and Saturday’s pictures quickly then start scanning the biz cards of the artists.

Sunday at Fan Ex

How was it? Funny since I waasn’t there.

Actually I woke up at home past noon on Sunday. Not that I was planning another long bus ride to Toronto. Just I didn’t have the extra funds at this time to go. It would be the first time I missed a full con in a long time.

I do like to thank all the kind fans I met at Fan Ex this year. It was the second time for the show to be in the South Hall. Other than the collapse of the masquerade line into chaos, the show was okay if not a little noisy with not one but two major game tournaments at the same time.

As with Anime North, there was no 4 Koma this year. Instead I collect tons of biz cards from artists to post into a special page in the 4 Koma section.

I will try to get the photos up as quickly as possible. I keep saying that but even today was a wash as one friend’s computer crashed.
I dropped off my podcasting microphone to a friend who is starting his own podcast on gaming, Role Playing 101. Since I spoke last about his podcast, he has drastically working on setting up the site along with the trial podcast, that he did with his old microphone and former co-host. He is currently looking for a new co-host.

Video will always be the stickler since it takes up so much time and drive space and Fan Expo is no exceptions. Unfortunely work takes priority.

I have mentioned to many at Fan Ex that the spammer has been plaguing our forums. In spite of his efforts, we have gained many new members in the forum. I hope that those who join enjoy the atmosphere of the forum which we’re trying to make into a club in itself. Many delays have been to fixes holes in CMS security as well as tracking our resident weasel. I will be keeping a close eye on activity on the site.

Once again, sorry about not being there Sunday and hope to see you all again at the next convention.

Day one from Fan Expo 2007

It has been a busy week but with a ride to Yorkdale mall on Friday I manage to save some cash in going to Fan Ex in spite of the fact I had no place to stay. I was surprised at the lack of a line up this year. largely due to the prenimum pass users getting in at 2PM as oppose to the delays of last year. It was equally surprising that other people with camcorders were were doing the same ‘Walk to the End of the Line‘ as I did last year. Not only that they were surprise that I was one who originated it.

Hmmm … now I got to figure out something new to do. Maybe walk to south hall instead.

The real fun was Intel booth in the gaming section which had a large green screen (or as it more known as bluescreen) where people could move around and they edited the green screen footage into a short commercial where all your moves are played at the same time. The fun part was they put it on a FREE 256 meg USB drive which I got to keep.

As with Anime North, I had even less cash to do a 4 koma and collected artist’s biz cards to post in place of 4 komas. This is much how Japanese Comiket program books are. Pages of artist’s biz cards so you can look up your fav artist’s website afterward.

Plus also I was pluggin not one but two podcast sites, UltraRob’s Kungfu Action Theatre as well a to be released Role Playing 101, a podcast all about gaming. (Still under construction at this post.) I will be lending my microphone to RP101 until theirs comes in.

As for Anime London’s long lost podcast, it might be resurrected as possibly a stage play.

It’s nearly 3am as I caught the late bus back and recharging my batteries for the next day and the Masquerade.  Hope to catch you at Fan Expo this year.

Fan Ex 2007

I’ll will be trying to attend both Friday and Saturday for Fan Ex but not Sunday. Plus I hope to get video of the masquerade as well.

I know I haven’t been able to get to the past events videos but I’m working hard at other things which prevent time for video.

Hope to see you there.
